39DSC04130.jpgSSW 30025-30049: These 50 ton, insulated 40' steel box cars were all built by PC&F in January 1958. All cars were 3372 cu.ft. capacity. These cars featured 8' plug doors, Hydra-Cushion underfames and PS model "E" Compartmentizer loaders.(Railfan.net) The previous series, SSW 30000-30024, were built at the same time(?) with the same specification except Hydra-Cushion. (Railfan.net)

These 40’ standard box cars with plug door and red with gray lower band and white lettering run on roller bearing trucks. Built in 1959, these unique 25 Compartmentizer-equipped cars wore an experimental paint scheme similar to the red and gray paint scheme of Southern Pacific diesels. Ultimately vetoed by management for use on freight cars, these cars continued to wear this paint for years to come. (Micro-Trains Micro-News Nov. 2016 (pdf))
